Given recent developments in dairy farming with dairy farmers further pushing for intensification, we at Farmdesk chose to adjust the feeding standards for young cattle for fast growth and early calving date.
The faster the young cattle mature, the faster they can go into lactation. If they grow slower they take up more space and produce more manure with no farm value added. This is detrimental to the farm.
Thus, the standards for dry matter intake, VEM, FOS and crude protein were slightly increased, and the standard for crude fiber was slightly decreased. See charts below.
